Maps Rift Valley Blend

Today's coffee comes to us from another local roaster here in Kansas City. Maps Coffee, out of Old Town Lenexa, Kansas. Vincent has been working with coffee for over 20 years, and now his quest is to create us the best, freshest cup of coffee we will ever have. He also has a bicycle shop and is a custom steel frame builder. His bike shop, Velo+, has been around since 2013, Maps Coffee since 2014.    This is their Rift Valley Blend. A blend of Kenya & Ethiopia beans. I brewed this at my 1:12 ratio. Maps notes a crisp clean body, berry aroma, citrus notes. This was an awesome blend. Most other blends I've had combine totally different regions to get a wide spectrum of flavors. This blend combines two beans that are similar in flavor profile, which I feel plays very well. Definitely a nice creamy smooth cup. Berry jam, floral, pineapple. Also some nice molasses, raisin, and chocolate notes in there as well. This is a great blend and made for an awesome c

Dutchman Santa Josefa Typica

Today I have a tasty coffee from a local roaster. Dutchman Coffee Roasters out of North Kansas City, Missouri. Love getting able to try and promote local businesses. Dutchman strives to provide a high quality coffee that has been resourced in a responsible manor. Prior to selecting a new crop of green coffee, they roast and sample in a variety of brewing methods to ensure an in depth knowledge of the flavor profile of the coffee before purchasing.    This is their Santa Josefa Typica. A washed Peru bean from the Villa Rica, Junin region. The farm has pivoted from a conventional coffee farm to a dedicated specialty farm, planting new varieties and experimenting with multiple forms of processing. I brewed this at my 1:12 ratio. Dutchman notes flavors of sweet caramel,

Today I have another great coffee from the folks over at Rosalind Coffee.   This is their San Isidro. A washed Columbia bean from the Huila region. I brewed this at my 1:12 ratio. Rosalind notes flavors of nectarine, mandarin orange, & marshmallow. I definitely got the tartness acidity of the citrus. Nice bright orange. Also got a creamy chocolate/cola as well. This was a very interesting cup. Think I will try this at my 1:8 ratio next time. See how that turns out.    Thanks again to Walt & Rosalind for the interesting coffees.   Been a while since I've dropped a review. Sorry about that; been a little sick.    Today I have for you another great coffee from 1000 Faces Coffee. Loving their new bag design. It's also a compostable Biotre bag. This is this their Fazenda Ambiental Fortaleza. This is a Natural Brazil from the Caconde, Sao Paolo region. I brewed this at my 1:12 ratio. 1000 Faces notes flavors of milk chocolate, peanut butter, dried berries. Nice sweet cup. Chocolate, toffee, nutty. Nice cherry, tart acidity. Super yummy natural from Brazil.    Thanks again to Jan & 1000 Faces for the great coffee. Check these guys out! Go check them out at :   1000facescoffee.com

Redbeard Rwanda Karongi Gitesi

Image
Here we have a coffee from the fellas over at Redbeard Coffee Roasters. A team of fellow "red beards" Nathaniel & Stephen.    This is their Rwanda Karongi Gitesi. A medium roast wet processed bean. I brewed this at my stronger 1:8 ratio. Redbeard notes flavors of cinnamon, clove, nutmeg, honey. This was a tasty Rwandan. Believe I've only had one other, and I liked it as well. Would love it pair this with Thanksgiving! Definitely love the spicy-bed of this coffee. Cinnamon, brown sugar, raisins. Delicious. Also drank this with some cream and it was delicious. It's own desert.    Thanks again to Stephen and Redbeard for the tasty coffee. Go check them out at :   redbeardcoffeeroasters.com
