Today I have a tasty coffee from a local roaster. Dutchman Coffee Roasters out of North Kansas City, Missouri. Love getting able to try and promote local businesses. Dutchman strives to provide a high quality coffee that has been resourced in a responsible manor. Prior to selecting a new crop of green coffee, they roast and sample in a variety of brewing methods to ensure an in depth knowledge of the flavor profile of the coffee before purchasing.

This is their Santa Josefa Typica. A washed Peru bean from the Villa Rica, Junin region. The farm has pivoted from a conventional coffee farm to a dedicated specialty farm, planting new varieties and experimenting with multiple forms of processing. I brewed this at my 1:12 ratio. Dutchman notes flavors of sweet caramel, apricot, dried cranberry. This was a nice fruity cup. Little cherry tartness in there. Honey sweetness. Nice balanced cup. Very tasty.

Thanks again to David & Dutchman for the great coffee. Looking forward to trying the other coffees I have from them. Was also nice getting to meet Dutchman at a local beer/coffee/chocolate collaboration at @doubleshiftbrewing, a local brewery.

Here I have another great bean from Seven Seas Roasting Company. Seven Seas was started by Eric and Rob during their years in the armed forces. They randomly bumped into each other at a coffee bar in Bangkok and the real coffee journey began: the journey where coffee farmers are treated like humans and where the coffee they produce tastes damn good too. Today I feature a tasty bean from Alamance Kaffee Werks out of Graham, North Carolina. Alamance Kaffee Werks was started from the enjoyment of amazing coffee by Daniel Krenzer & Kevin Jordan. Daniel's love of coffee came after visiting Corlesto Coffee Roasters in Billings, Montana. He's been to Costa Rica and Thailand, two totally different coffee experiences, and became enthralled with what these regions are offering the coffee world and how coffee is embedded in the culture. When not working with coffee, he works as a school psychologist in public education, primarily working on behalf of students with disabilities. And as such, part of his proceeds go towards non-profit organizations that provide mental health supports for children with Autism and brain injuries. Today I have an awesome piece of equipment for you guys. Meet the PUCKPUCK. PUCKPUCK is an attachment that turns any AeroPress Coffee Maker into a cold brew drip system. The PUCKPUCK allows for a controlled slow dripping of water over a bed of coffee, creating a uniquely versatile cold brew that can be enjoyed over ice, with milk, or as a mixer with your cocktails. The patent-pending twist drip valve means the setup is done in seconds and if you pair this with the PUCKPUCK Drip Counter App available for Apple and Android you can achieve a more exact calibration to perfect your brew.
